To recap, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Mo Williams for Baron Davis and Kyrie Irving. Also, it looks like Dan Gilbert’s son received Al-Farouq Aminu’s glasses from last year’s draft in the deal.
Yeah, so your Cleveland Cavaliers have both the first AND fourth picks in this years NBA Draft.
That was a quick turnaround.
In a surprising move, the Cleveland Browns took DT Phil Taylor from Baylor at 21.
Let’s break it down: the Browns traded their 6th pick to the Falcons for their first round pick, second round pick, and fourth round pick this year, as well as their first and fourth round picks in 2012.
Then, Cleveland traded their acquired 27th overall to Kansas City, as well as their third round (70th overall) pick to get the 21st overall and pick Taylor.
I guess it turns out that Heckert and co. weren’t keen on WR Julio Jones at 6, whom Atlanta chose.
Overall, I’m comfortable with this turn of events. Cleveland cleaned up with the trade to Atlanta (2 first rounders, a second round pick and two fourth round picks). Cleveland knew what it wanted, and it just wasn’t there. Hopefully the rest of the draft goes smoothly for Cleveland.
Also featured in this year’s first round: lots of big guys crying.
The draft is tonight (8:00pm, ESPN), what do you think the Browns will do?
Draft a defensive lineman? A wide receiver? Will they trade down or even trade up?
What do you think?
